Child and Spousal Support

Child Support

In California, the courts are required to use child support guidelines to make child support orders. It is important to be represented by a lawyer that knows about the guideline and is familiar with the computer programs used to determine the guideline.

Prior to graduating from law school, Carla worked as a law clerk at the Sonoma County Department of Child Support Services. As an attorney, she has represented numerous clients in child support agreements and at child support hearings.

If you are the paying party, Carla has the experience to make sure that you are not paying any more than you are required to pay. If you are the receiving party, Carla will make sure that you are receiving the correct amount of support.

Spousal Support

During the process of dissolving a marriage or domestic partnership, one party may be entitled to receive temporary spousal support to financially assist them as they go through the dissolution process.

After the dissolution process is resolved, it may be appropriate for one party to pay the other party spousal support for a period of time. This determination is made by considering a long list of factors that are set out in the family code.

Carla will discuss with you whether it is appropriate for you to be receiving or paying spousal support. She will help you to get the best possible financial outcome for your particular situation.
